2023 Waypoint Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay

Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay, first planted in 1912 by Charlie Heintz’s grandparents. This ridgetop site at 900 feet near Occidental, on Goldridge sandy loam soils, maritime fog rolls through each evening. The grapes ripen slowly, amongst the redwoods and thick ocean fog. Longer hang time calls for patience and a careful watch. Exotic aromas of ginger, honey and sea spray lead developed flavors and layered texture across the palate. Ripe golden apples, quince, and citrus notes with a refreshing saline mineral thread throughout.
