Tasting Notes

The color is deep ruby red with hints of purple and black. On the nose is warm, green earth, moss, forest, and conifer notes, with black cherries, ripe black plums, and currants. There’s a light vanilla spice and a tiny breath of wild herbs. In the mouth, it is very round, voluptuous, and filling, but the brisk acidity takes over and keeps it deft on the palate. There’s tobacco, black cherries, blackberry pie crust, and other red fruits, plus a soft, gentle grip of tannin that lengthens the finish.

Vineyard

The Terra de Promissio vineyard is located outside Petaluma, California, where the Sonoma Coast AVA and Petaluma Gap AVA overlap. “Terra” in Latin means “The Land”. Terra de Promissio has an ideal terroir for Pinot Noir grapes. The soil, southwest sun exposure, hill elevation, vine density and the wind and fog of the Petaluma Gap allow the Terra de Promissio grapes to have a slow maturation, extended hang time which allows optimum ripeness. These are ideal conditions for Pinot Noir grapes that makes exceptional and age-worthy wines.
